01 Overview

South Dakota Merriam's Turkey Hunts

South Dakota Access offers customized Merriam's turkey hunts across private ranches and select Lakota tribal lands. These hunts give hunters access to one of North America's most beautiful turkey subspecies across a wide variety of terrain, habitat and hunting styles.

Hunters pursue Merriam's in cedar-covered ridges, river bottoms, shelterbelts, agricultural corridors, cottonwood creek systems, prairie draws and rugged canyon country.

Because turkey populations and bird distribution vary from year to year, we use preseason scouting and current field conditions to place hunters on the most productive opportunities available. Expect exciting calling action, beautiful spring scenery, and opportunities at mature longbeards displaying the white-tipped tail feathers that make Merriam's one of the most sought-after subspecies in North America.

03 Detail

Private Ranch Turkey Hunts

Private ranch hunts provide access to carefully selected properties where turkey numbers remain healthy and hunting pressure is limited. These hunts often take place near roosting areas, travel corridors, feeding locations and strutting zones identified through extensive preseason scouting. Depending on the property and conditions, hunters may use traditional run-and-gun tactics, blind setups, decoy strategies, or highly interactive calling approaches designed to bring gobblers into range. DIY, semi-guided and fully guided hunts are all available, and we custom-fit the hunt to your preferences and budget.
